Being a single parent is never easy but it can be really difficult during the holidays as most of the time you are sharing the holidays with the other parent. This means you don’t get to spend every holiday with your child. I know this pain and it does suck! I am not here to sugar coat it but let me tell you what has helped me through those dark days of the Holidays when you don’t have your child. The first holiday without my child was rough. I stayed in bed and cried my eyes out the whole day. After I picked myself up from the first holiday I made the choice to make sure I always had plans. I have always loved the holidays and I wanted to continue that love for the holidays, I always have hosted most of the holidays so I continue to do so but also opening my home to those who don’t have a place to go or friends with out there children, you name it everyone was welcome in our home! This was one of the best things I did for myself and for everyone who needed a place to go to!

Create the holiday and share with your child even if you don’t have the child for that Holiday. I know this might seem funny but we do it in out house and it has worked out great. I think its important to the child and you. This year I don’t have Chloe for Thannksgiving so when she comes home on Friday we will do a little mini dinner and celebrate. It may not be perfect and yes its very hard not to spend every holiday with your child but, making sure you are not alone and busy on those days will make it better. Nothing is going to compare to sharing the Holidays with your child but being with them when you can does make the difference.

I want to give a special shoutout to my single moms out there without there children for this upcoming holiday season. I am sending you a bug hug and love. This to shall pass and everything will be ok. Make the holiday whatever day you have your children and enjoy it! Spend the day you don’t have your children with your family, friends, and or anything that makes you happy!

Happy Turkey Day!!! Stay safe and enjoy!
